The UA master's degree was an experience enhanced immeasurably by the dedicated and talented faculty, with whom it was possible to work so closely because of the small seminar sizes. I never felt lost in the crowd. The UA Russian Abroad Program was also an unforgettable and extremely powerful experience. Living and doing research in Moscow and making numerous trips to the various Golden Ring towns, Tver', and Saint Petersburg provided the kind of close, sustained contact that is essential for language and cultural development.
Since leaving UA, I completed an MPhil and PhD in Comparative Literature as a Chancellor’s Fellow at the CUNY Graduate Center. I am now a tenured Associate Professor at West Point, Russian Program Director, and the Head Academic Counselor for the Department of Foreign Languages. I also serve on the Executive Committee of the MLA Forum on Opera and Musical Performance.
